Established by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency, Energy Star-qualified systems went beyond minimum federal standards for energy efficiency. As a result, products with the Energy Star logo saved homeowners money by reducing energy consumption, especially when it comes to heating and air conditioning costs.
The program has now evolved. With its new "Most Efficient" label, homeowners can now identify the best of the best in terms of efficiency. Learn the criteria and benefits of using products rated "Most Efficient."
About the program
The new program currently labels a select number of appliance categories, including heating and cooling systems, clothes washers, refrigerators and televisions. It aims to help consumers identify the most-efficient appliances and inspire manufacturers to create even more efficient appliances in order to qualify for the program.
Program criteria
- The program aims to recognize the top 5 percent of appliances through the use of more stringent criteria. For example, air conditioners must use less than 65,000 BTUs per hour of cooling.
- The government only allows the Energy Star Most Efficient logo to be used in association with qualified appliances.
- Product performance must be EPA-certified by an independent, third-party technician.
Benefits
Products with the Most Efficient Energy Star logo offer many benefits including:
- Higher energy savings for homeowners. Especially during Medway MA' cold winters and hot, humid summers, Energy Star Most Efficient HVAC systems will significantly lower heating and cooling costs.
- Improved environmental friendliness due to fewer emissions and lower energy use.
- Increased quality and durability. Higher-efficiency HVAC systems use components that run longer, helping the units avoid frequent cycling, which increases the rate of wear.
Energy Star-qualified appliances are most efficient when they are correctly sized and installed. For help sizing and installing equipment with the Most Efficient Energy Star logo, in the Route 495/128 area of Medway MA, contact Rodenhiser Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.
